Causes and Organizations We Support

Dr. Alvarez and Dr. Reigstad believe strongly in the importance of giving back to the community. Reaching out to people and animals in need is an opportunity to share our gifts, talents, resources and strengthen our humanity. Please consider supporting these local organizations who have dedicated themselves to helping and uplifting the people and animals of our community. Thank you!

Sunflower Rescue Animal Sanctuary

Sunflower Sanctuary Animal Rescue is organized exclusively for the purpose of preventing cruelty to animals, educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering, animal abuse and neglect, and lessoning the burden on our government run shelters.

To this end, the corporation shall provide a safe, secure, and loving home while rehabilitating and training these animals. We are also dedicated to working with other rescue groups and the local shelters to foster animals that need a temporary home for evaluation and training.

We provide a permanent and loving home for the elderly, sick, and damaged dogs that could not be placed in a home. We also work with other rescue groups at times of disasters across the nation to provide food and temporary shelter to animals in need.

All funds, whether income or principal, and whether acquired by gift, contribution, or otherwise, shall be devoted to said purpose. Website

Walkin N Circles Ranch, Inc.

New Mexico Horse Rescue at Walkin N Circles Ranch, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) horse rescue that rehabilitates and finds homes for abandoned, abused, and neglected horses.

Since 2002, we’ve remained true to our mission of providing all rescued equines with new beginnings and productive lives with loving, adoptive families.

We are licensed, regulated and inspected annually by the New Mexico Livestock Board.

Our herd number can vary, but we generally care for 50 to 60 horses on the ranch, and several more in foster care. The majority of horses that come to us have been seized by the Livestock Board due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. We also occasionally take horses surrendered by individuals who can no longer care for their horse(s).

The ranch is governed by a board of directors who oversees day-to-day operations with the assistance of on-site caretakers and the help of more than 100 volunteers. Ranch team members volunteer their experience, skills, talents and time to care for horses, maintain the facilities and fund the ranch. We utilize University of California, Davis Best Practices for Horse Rescues and natural horsemanship to guide our work.

Tours of the ranch are available Tuesday through Saturday by appointment. Reserve your tour by calling (505) 286-0779.
